Planning your year 2027: six steps from looking back to your week

A good year starts with an honest look back. Then a few annual goals become quarterly goals, and quarterly goals become concrete weeks. This is how we plan at weekview – and how our planners are structured.

The short answer

How do I plan the year 2027?

In six steps, ideally on a quiet afternoon between Christmas and New Year:

  • 1. Looking back at 2026: What worked, what didn't, what will you take with you?
  • 2. Areas of life: How satisfied are you with work, health, relationships and personal matters?
  • 3. A few annual goals: no more than three to five goals that really matter.
  • 4. Quarters: split each annual goal into steps for 13 weeks.
  • 5. Weeks: decide each week what matters most – with A, B and C priorities.
  • 6. Weekly reflection: look back for 20 minutes at the weekend and set the direction for the next week.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions about planning your year

How do I plan my year properly?

Start with a year in review, then set no more than three to five annual goals, split them into quarterly goals and plan the most important tasks by priority every week. A short reflection at the weekend keeps the year on track.

Which questions belong in a year in review?

What have I achieved? What have I learned? What gave me energy and what drained it? Who mattered to me? What will I let go of and what will I take with me?

When is the best time to plan your year?

Many people use the quiet days between Christmas and New Year. What matters is a block of two to three hours without interruptions.

Why quarters instead of just annual goals?

A year is long; 13 weeks are manageable. Quarterly goals make progress visible and leave room for course corrections.

Which planner helps with planning your year?

The weekview Business Planner 2027 A5+ contains a year in review, life and annual goals, quarterly planning and weekly pages – from €32.95.
