Three years.
Not a single date.
The weekly reflection book for people who no longer want to plan, but to understand. Ten to twenty minutes a week – and after three years a book stands on your shelf that shows how far you have come.
A system, not a blank page.
A diary asks no questions. It waits for you to write something in it – and that is exactly where most people give up after four weeks. The Essentials turns it around: it asks, and you answer.
At the centre stands the week as the reflection interval. Long enough to see developments and connections. Short enough that the details are still there. A day is too close, a month too far away.
Because the book is completely undated , there is no wrong moment to start – and no empty pages reminding you of the weeks you skipped.
What the book carries
- Weekly topics and the important events of each weekday
- A weekly conclusion on focus, balance, mood and vitality
- Quarterly reflections from page 160, annual reflections from page 172
- Notes section from page 178 with #hashtag system – also for topic journals
- Concept and design by weekview, produced in Germany
The week – the ideal interval for reflection
A single day is often too short to judge developments reliably. Over a whole month, important details are quickly forgotten. The week offers the right rhythm to survey events, decisions, successes and challenges, spot patterns and consciously bring things to a close.
Achievements
Record successes, milestones and challenges you have mastered. This makes progress visible that everyday life would otherwise swallow up.
Emotions
Reflect on encounters, burdens, free time and gratitude. That gives your personal experience a firm place alongside performance.
Insights
Document lightbulb moments, blind spots, key levers and personal game changers before valuable realisations slip away again.
Next steps
Turn your insights into concrete actions, new routines, decisions or the course corrections you need for the week ahead.
Metrics & routines
Track relevant figures and habits over several weeks. That is how progress, connections and recurring patterns become visible.
Worth remembering
Collect beginnings, special events, strong thoughts and curiosities – everything that is, in the truest sense of the word, worth remembering.
Six fields. One quarter of an hour.
This is what a week looks like in the Essentials. Tap a spot – and beside it you will see what belongs there and why.
Week, year and the topics
On the left you fill in the year and calendar week – the book is undated, so you give it its address yourself. To the right of that are the weekly topics: what this week was actually about.
Sunday to Sunday
The narrow column at the edge takes the important events of the individual days – in keywords, not as a diary. It is the memory aid for everything that follows.
What went well, what moved you
Achievements collect successes, milestones and completed tasks – the small ones too. Emotions sit next to them and hold encounters, gratitude, free time and what weighed on you.
The insight and the action
Insights cover lightbulb moments, blind spots and game changers. Right beside them, Steps: a decision, an action, a routine, a course correction. An insight without a next step stays without consequence – which is why the two sit side by side.
Numbers and mental anchors
On the left you track metrics and routines – whatever you want to measure. On the right there is room for Worth remembering: beginnings, strong thoughts, curiosities.
Four sliders instead of a grade
At the foot of the page you rate focus, balance, mood and vitality. Four scales, no prose – after a few months you can read patterns from them that everyday life hides.
Why undated? Because reflection is not a duty. If a week falls out, the next one moves up – no empty pages left behind to follow you around. That is also why the book lasts three years and not just one calendar year.
From the weekly spread to the yearly review.
The book is built in four levels – each one rests on the one below.
Weekly reflection
The largest part of the book: a double page per week with a daily column, six reflection fields and a weekly conclusion.
CoreQuarterly reflection
Every thirteen weeks, a view from above: what really moved in this quarter, and which patterns keep repeating?
4 per yearAnnual reflection
The balance of twelve months – and the starting point for the year ahead. Included three times in the book.
3 yearsNotes section
Free space with a #hashtag system: notes get a keyword and can be found again later via the index.
freeIt stays, waits, asks and carries
A reflection book can do four things a note-taking app cannot – and none of them has anything to do with nostalgia.
It stays
A book on the shelf does not expire, does not get discontinued and needs no account. After three years your own development stands there – readable, without a device.
It waits
It does not ping you, it does not remind you, it collects no data. It lies there and is there when you open it. That is the whole difference to an app.
It asks
The six fields are the real work. They demand an answer where a blank page only offers space.
It carries
Weeks, quarters, years and notes all live in the same book. You never have to switch between four tools to see a connection.

Four steps and your first week is in the book.
„Ten to twenty minutes a week are enough.“
Three occasions, the same book
Not a replacement for your planner – but the thing that comes after it.
After the week
If you already use a weekly planner, put the Essentials beside it. The planner tells you what is coming up. The Essentials tells you what came of it.
In times of change
A new job, a move, a decision taking shape: if you want to go through a phase consciously, after three years you have the whole stretch in writing.
In coaching
As a basis for conversations – week after week, the six fields deliver exactly the material to work with.
