The year as a board, not as a block.
A desk calendar shows the month you happen to be in. The year planner lays half a year out flat: six month columns side by side, one row per day. Turn the sheet over and the second half is there in exactly the same way.
That makes distances visible which a monthly page keeps hidden – how many weeks lie between two appointments, where two holiday periods collide, how long a project phase really is.
It is built around Calendar weeks: all seven days of a week stay together, and the first week of a month is defined to ISO 8601 – the week containing the first Thursday.

Year number and year colour
The year sits top left – big enough to read from a metre away. The coloured dot in front of it is the year colour. It is the reason you never mix up two editions lying side by side.
Six months side by side
January to June as columns, not as pages. The back carries July to December in the same layout. That is the real difference from a monthly calendar: you see half a year without turning anything.
Public holidays by name
The public holidays are not just shaded in colour, they are named – New Year's Day, Good Friday, Ascension Day. Regional holidays carry a number that refers to the German states listed below.
The large calendar-week numbers
The pale numbers in the background are the Calendar weeks. They run right through the columns, so a week stays one continuous unit – even when it crosses a month change.
Quarter colours
Every quarter has its own colour. Q1 is blue, Q2 green – Q3 and Q4 follow on the back. The eye finds the period before the mind reads the date.
Week markers w1 to w5
The markers w1 to w5 sit on the left and right edges – the week within the month. Handy if you plan in rhythms: first week for planning, last week for wrapping up.
Public holidays by German state
At the bottom are the footnotes on the regional public holidays, grouped by German state. The numbers in the grid point to them – so the surface stays clear and the information is still complete.
The legend
Bottom left explains what the symbols mean: full moon and new moon as circles, the colour dots for the years 2026 to 2030 and the distinction between nationwide and regional public holidays.
Why two sides and not twelve pages? Because half a year is the largest unit that stays readable on an A4 sheet. The second half is one movement away: turn it over.
