One state.
One year. All the holidays.

Twelve monthly columns side by side, and running right across them all are the school holidays of one German state as continuous bars. Plus the public holidays by name, national and regional alike. One look is enough to see when you can get away.

What is the School Holiday Planner?

The holidays in the lead role.

On an ordinary year calendar the school holidays run along the margin – a footnote, a figure, a small marker. Here it is the other way round: the holidays are the first thing you see.

The sheet shows all twelve months side by side, with the days running down in a row. The holiday periods sit beside them as continuous bars, so their length is not read but seen. If you are planning when the family gets away, this is exactly the view you need.

Because holidays and regional public holidays differ from state to state, the planner comes not in a generic version, but one per state – with that state's holidays and that state's public holidays, and no other dates in between.

On every sheet

  • Twelve monthly columns side by side – the whole year at a glance.
  • School holidays of your chosen state as continuous bars.
  • Public holidays named in full, national and regional ones marked separately.
  • Calendar weeks to ISO 8601, as large numbers in the background.
  • Week markers w1 to w5 on both edges.
  • Moon phases plus the clock-change dates.

Three editions

  • Bavaria – including Epiphany, Corpus Christi and All Saints' Day.
  • Baden-Württemberg – its own holiday periods, its own public holidays.
  • North Rhine-Westphalia – its own holiday periods, its own public holidays.

Eight details. One year.

This is the School Holiday Planner 2027 in the Bavaria edition – January to December on one sheet. Tap a detail or pick it from the list.

The year, big enough to read from a metre

Top left the year appears in the light annual colour – big enough to read from a metre away. Two years hanging next to each other cannot be confused, even when both are on the pinboard.

Coat of arms and state name

Right beside it sit the coat of arms and the name of the state. That is not decoration but the most important detail on the sheet: the holidays and regional public holidays apply to exactly this state. You choose it when you order.

January to December side by side

All twelve months sit side by side as columns, not one behind the other as separate pages. That makes distances visible which stay hidden on a monthly page – such as how many weeks lie between the Easter and Whitsun holidays.

Holidays as continuous bars

The school holidays run alongside the days as vertical bars. You do not have to work out their length, you can see it. Even holidays that cross a month boundary stay one continuous bar.

Public holidays named in full

Public holidays are not just shaded in, they are named – New Year's Day, Good Friday, Ascension Day. Regional holidays are marked separately, so it stays clear what applies nationwide and what only here.

The large week numbers

The pale numbers in the background are the Calendar weeks to ISO 8601. They run right through the columns, so a week stays one unit – even when it crosses a month boundary.

w1 to w5 on both edges

The week markers w1 to w5 sit on the left and on the right. They show which week of the month is starting – useful wherever dates follow a rhythm such as „every other week“ or „in the first week“.

Moon phases and holiday types

Bottom left is the legend: an open circle for a full moon, a filled one for a new moon, plus the difference between a national and a regional public holiday. Next to it, the clock-change dates in March and October.

Shown here is the edition for Bavaria. Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia are built the same way – with the holidays and the regional public holidays of the state in question.

Three editions

One sheet. Your German state.

School holidays and regional public holidays differ from state to state. That is why the planner does not come in a generic version but in state editions – with no other dates in between. You choose the state directly on the product page.

What it is for

Four questions, one sheet

Keeping the school holidays in view is about more than booking a trip. Every year it comes down to the same four questions – and all four are answered on the same sheet.

The timing

When can we get away?

The holiday bars show start, end and length with no counting. Book early and you can see at a glance which week is still free – and which one half the country has already taken.

The bridge

Where do the bridge days fall?

Public holidays are named inside the grid, with the weekdays below. A holiday on a Thursday is instantly recognisable as a bridge day – and the Friday is planned in straight away.

The gap

How long is the gap?

Between two holiday periods there are weeks, not days. The continuous week numbers let you read that distance off directly, instead of flicking back and forth through a monthly calendar.

The rhythm

Which week are we in?

The large calendar weeks in the background and the w1 to w5 markers along the edge answer that at any moment – without counting and without a second tool.

In stock

Two years, three editions.

Both years are in stock, each in all three state editions. You choose your state on the product page – the price is the same for every edition.

If you plan beyond the turn of the year, put both years side by side: the summer holidays of 2027 get booked in autumn 2026.

Who uses it

Three reasons, the same holidays.

Families, schools and working people look at the same sheet from different directions – and all find the same answer.

Family

„We book in January for the summer.“

If you travel with school-age children you have no free window, only the weeks that appear as bars on the sheet. The earlier you decide, the more there is left to choose from.

School Holiday Planner for your own state
School

„I plan the school year, not the calendar year.“

Teachers and teaching teams think in half-years, project weeks and parents' evenings. Twelve months side by side show both halves of the school year at once – a monthly page cannot do that.

School Holiday Planner on the pinboard
Work

„My leave days depend on the school holidays.“

If you have to fit leave around school holidays, bridge days and cover, you need both pieces of information on one sheet. The request then takes minutes, not a round of queries.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the School Holiday Planner

Which German states is the planner available for?
In print it is currently available for Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia. You choose the state directly on the product page – your sheet then comes with the holidays and the regional public holidays of exactly that state. For all sixteen German states the holidays are also available free to print yourself.
Is the whole year on one side?
Yes. All twelve months sit side by side as columns – January far left, December far right. Unlike the year planner, where one half-year is on the front and one on the back, nothing has to be turned over here.
And if my state is not included?
Then take the School Holiday Planner to print yourself: it holds the holidays of all sixteen German states ready as a direct PDF download for 2026 and 2027 – no email address, no sign-up. It comes per state individually and as an overview of all of them. Printed on A4 it is beside your keyboard in seconds; our printed sheet is the more durable version for the three ready-made editions.
What is the difference from the year planner?
The Year planners is a year planner on which the holidays run along the margin. On the School Holiday Planner they are the main event: one state, its holidays as continuous bars, its public holidays named in full. If you plan your year around the holidays, you are in the right place; if you mainly count weeks, take the year planner.
What does „week-number optimised“ mean?
The sheet is built around Calendar weeks . All seven days of a week stay together, even when the week runs across a month boundary. The first week of a month is defined by ISO 8601 – the week that contains the first Thursday.
Are public holidays and moon phases included?
Yes. Statutory public holidays are named inside the grid, regional ones are marked separately. Added to that are the Moon phases with full and new moon, plus the dates of the clock change in March and October.
Which years are available?
The planner is available for 2026 and for 2027, each in all three state editions. Both years are in stock – if you plan beyond the turn of the year, take both.
What is the format meant for?
DIN A4 fits every binder, every desk and every pinboard. The sheet can be written on and marked up, so your own dates have room next to the holidays.
And if I plan weeks rather than holidays?
Then the Year planner A4 is the right choice – or the Year planner A5, if the year overview needs to travel with you. Both carry the holidays of every state, just along the margin.
Before you book

Holidays first. Then the rest.

One sheet, one state, the whole year. Both years are in stock – and the price is the same for every state edition.
