A professional planner has to do two things a calendar can't: make priorities visible and keep the quarter in view while the week is running. Everything else is trim.
Three requirements, one planner
If you Plans instead of appointments steers needs quarterly planning in the same book as the week — otherwise you're running two systems.
If you more than a few lines a day writes needs A5+ instead of pocket format. If you run many projects in parallel, A4.

Business Planner or just a notebook?
A notebook is better for thoughts, a planner better for plans. The difference is structure: a planner has fixed places for priorities, quarterly goals and review. In a notebook you have to rebuild them yourself every week — which nobody still does after four weeks.
Isn't the company's digital calendar enough?
For appointments yes, for steering no. The company calendar shows what others plan to do with your time. The planner shows what you plan to do with it. Most of our customers use both in parallel.
A5+ or A4 — what do executives choose?
Mostly A5+, because it comes along. A4 is worth it if the planner stays on the desk anyway and many parallel projects need managing.
Can I start mid-year?
Yes. The weekly pages are dated, but the quarterly and goal pages work from any starting point. If you want to start in autumn, the compact extended the 18-month version.
