A surface that dictates nothing
The Dotted Board A1h carries no date, no grid, no columns. Just dots – and whatever you make of them.
The dot grid gives you just enough guidance to draw straight lines and write evenly, without forcing a structure on you. A sketch, a flow chart, a mind map, a timeline, a grid of your own: if you have a structure in your head, you can draw it large on the wall here – and change it the moment it stops fitting.
Size is the whole point. An A1 board is not a bigger sticky note – it is a surface several people can stand around.
The blue corners: so your phone finds the surface
The four blue markers in the corners are not decoration. When you photograph a surface, scanner apps look for its four corners and use them to calculate a straight, de-skewed document. A white sheet on a white wall gives them too little contrast – the automatic detection never finds the edge. The blue markers give it exactly the anchor that would otherwise be missing.
That way a sketch travels from the wall to the cloud in seconds: in the Dropboxapp, just tap + → Scan document, and it lands in your folder as a PDF. Several shots are saved as a single PDF. Adobe Scan, Apple Notes and Google Drive work in exactly the same way.
For clean detection: hold your phone as square-on to the surface as you can, keep all four markers in frame and avoid reflections – glare is the most common reason the automatic detection gets it wrong.

Frequently asked questions about the Dotted Board A1h
Why does the board have blue corners?
So your phone recognises the surface. When you photograph it, scanner apps look for the four corners and use them to calculate a straight, de-skewed document. A white sheet on a white wall offers barely any contrast – the blue markers give the automatic detection the anchor it would otherwise lack. In the Dropbox app, just tap + → Scan document.
Are scanned sketches searchable afterwards?
Only to a limited extent. The document scanner in the Dropbox app is free on every account, but full-text search inside a scan (OCR) is part of the paid plans – and it reads printed text, not handwriting. So a hand-drawn mind map is neatly archived, but not searchable. A descriptive file name when you save it helps more than any search.
Paper or wipeable – which one suits me?
Wipeable is right if the same surface gets used again and again. Paper is right if every draft should be kept – one sheet per sketch, torn off and filed afterwards. The paper set contains five sheets.
What do I write on the wipeable version with?
A non-permanent film pen. It wipes off dry and leaves nothing behind. Permanent markers do not belong on this surface – their marks can no longer be removed dry.
What does „punched“ mean?
The board arrives pre-punched to fit the weekview hanging rail. It hangs straight up with no extra work – no frame, no screws, no tape on the board. Two nails or hooks will do just as well.
Does the Kanban Board fit next to it?
Yes. The Kanban Board A1h has the same format and the same punching. The sprint on the left, the sketch on the right – both hang from the same rail at the same height.
Where is it made?
Made in Germany – both the paper and the wipeable version.
